My personal favorite from the classic. Really liked the the extra tracks too.The last album to feature Fast Eddie, Ironfist is a classic in its own right. "Iron Fist" fast bass work, fast drumming, fast Eddie! You already have a picture of what this track sounds like. It is the best on the whole album. "Heart Of Stone" Another upbeat track. The riffs are cathcy but the lyrical department seems to be lacking in this track. "I'm The Doctor" a great classic all time riff starts this one off. The lyrics pick it up here. A great track and just fun to listen to. "Go To Hell" One of the best songs on the album. The main riff will hook you and pull you in. The drumming keeps pace. And Lemmy's voice is killer (as always) "Loser" a great heavy metal/rock and roll track. The second best song on the album. Another missed characteristic about this track...the solo is great. "Sex And Outrage" a total punkish vibe can be felt in this song. The bass work is impressive to keep the pace of this track. The drumming finally picks it up as well. "America" good track with a great riff. There are no tempo changes until the solo, which is a great solo I must add. "Shut It Down" Another good track but around this point Iron Fist starts to lose its muscle when compared to the first side of the album. "Speedfreak" Tight bass work and Fast Eddie propel this song to the listener's ears. "Don't Let 'Em Gring Ya Down" one of Motorhead's most underrated songs ever. Full of great riffs and great lyrics, this track is for that jerk of a boss we all have. Don't let em grind ya down people. "Don't Need Religion" another punkish vibe can be felt. Lemmy has some nice bass work. "Bang To Rights" finishes this album out with an upbeat track. The guitar drives this track to the end. Lemmy has another classic vocal showing. And plus its a great song to drive to. The solo is killer as well.Overall, I recomend Iron Fist. Although I would say get Overkill and Bomber first, and maybe Ace Of Spades as well. But Iron Fist is the last of their classic album from the late 70s to early 80s. If you like some good old fashioned kick butt music...Iron Fist is calling your name. And if you don't have it...It will grind you down. This album gets a bad wrap: yea, its not Ace Of Spades, but it is the last of the Fast Eddie era Moterhead. The tune Iron Fist is a great song, and worth it for that one alone. This is definitly a fans album, but remember that this one made the top 6 on the British charts when it came out (so its not as bad as some reviews suggest). This album is not the "Mr Roboto" (a stinker of an album) of Motorhead, but definitly not their very best effort. Also, its not the worst they did: you can hear classic Eddie in this album, and Phil and Lemmy do a great job on this as well. They sound like they were on the verge of becoming more like Saxon and Iron Maiden, and less like a band of Soccer holligan drunks playing late 70s thrash. There IS a refinement, but less 'innovative'. Its hard to say if Lemmy did not do the 'Stand by Your Man' thing with Wendy O, Eddie would not have left the band (who knows). They would not be the first band of good musicians that started to make it who shot themselves in the rear with bickering and lack of direction. Most of my music friends who are good would also blow it (in time) if they made it - it must go with the territory. This album was released when the band was at their worst, imploding from the stress of thier success. If you go to Fast Eddies web site, even he trashes this album, but that may be more to do with the memory of what was going on in the band when they split up (how many people watch wedding videos and go over their wedding albums after a divorse 'to savor the memories??').The Iron Fist tour was going bad, and tensions were rising (a rift formed in the Phil/Lemmy and Eddie camps). They tried to save money in getting Eddie to do the album and found out they should have paid the money, and all of them distance themselves from this album. Its so funny that in spite of that, its still pretty good. And it did well in the charts. If you are collecting albums, this one has to be you buy. Just watch Iron Fist on Youtube and you will buy this album (but buy Ace of Spades, Overkill, and Bomber FIRST).Initially released in 1982, as this was Motorhead's fifth record. Nice to finally get it on the Deluxe 2-CD reissue. The obvious gems on this British heavy metal classic include the title track opener "Iron Fist", "Heart Of Stone", "Loser", the ass-kicking "Sex & Outrage". "Speedfreak" and the head-riveting (Don't Need) Religion". Disc 2 has a single from this lp "Remember Me, I'm Gone" that I don't seem to recognize at all + a previously released live Motorhead gig from this very tour - Toronto on May 12, 1982 - co-headlining with Krokus. I know for a fact that years ago, I purchased this show on VHS video at a local Camelot Music store. Comes with a nifty 12-page CD booklet that includes liner notes, band memorabilia and some rarely-seen picks. Essential. As far as Motor Head go, I think this is their most consistent album (1916 is close). This album is full of dirty, speedy burners--just the way I like my Motor Head.I prefer this album to Ace Of Spades, Overkill and Bomber. The title tracks on those albums might be slightly superior to Iron Fist, but not by much. Some people complain about the production on this album, but this is Motorhead; the dirtier, the better.GreatIt's Motorhead for crying out loud. Yes, you can argue this isn't their best CD, and that it was slapped together to cash in on the success of Ace of Spades. However...it's still got the classic lineup and some killer tunes. Definitely worth adding to your lineup at some point, however if you're new to the band, you may be better served picking up some of their live CDs, which typically encapsulate their hits.good cdAfter the fantastic trio of 'Overkill','Bomber' & 'Ace Of Spades' it would have been hard enough to compete, that the previous album was the acclaimed 'No Sleep Til Hammersmith' then its no surprise this album struggled to live up to what went before. But that is only half the story, internal disputes which ultimately led to Fast Eddie Clarke leaving and quite honestly some under par material didnt help either.Would probably have been better to bask in the glory of the 'live' album and take time to work on the materrial for the follow up disc.Sadly that didnt happen but its not all bad,The title track ,'Heart Of Stone''Go To Hell' and 'Dont Let Them Grind Ya Down' are all quality .the rest average, its always annoyed me that the b'side to 'Iron Fist' (Remember Me Im Gone' was left off the original album, its head and shoulder above most of the album, thankfully it opens Disc 2.The remainder of the 2nd disc is a 'Live ' recording from Toronto on the subsequent tour,it includes 4 tracks from the album and a handful of classics, it aint 'No Sleep ...' levels of excitement but its worth listening to.The discs come in a digi pak foldout sleeve with excellent booklet and liner notes.I bought this a couple of months ago, naturally there is now a 40th anniversary edition due (and it includes a 2nd disc live from the Glasgow Apollo '82).. so i will have to buy again !!!!How do you follow Ace of Spades? AoS is held in such high regards amongst fans and critics, that all other Motorhead albums are always be compared to it; even though, IMO, AoS isn't the best because Overkill tops it every time. For me, Iron Fist is on par with AoS, but in a completely different way; compared to the aforementioned 'classic' album, Iron Fist is fast, raw and uncompromising. Get the 2-disc variant with the live album; the extra songs on this Bonus Track Edition will not be missed. If you like Motörhead you’ll love itFirst of all Motörhead was the kind of band that you could pick up any record of and know that you get greatness, you know what you get. Secondly and more spesific about this record. It starts off fantastically. I might say it is the greatest opening track of any Motörhead record, closely followed by "Bad Magic". Hell, it might be the greatest opening to any record ever! The album is solid with great artwork and stands up as good today as when it was released. This is a must-have for any fan of Motörhead, hell, for any fan of music. It isn't the full bonus track edition.
