works well. I like it !!The description of the pump says for outdoor use which is deceiving as it must be enclosed as stated in the installation instructions. If not for that I would give it 5 stars. It runs much quieter and smoother than the pump I replaced. I was a little concerned about the lower PSI but it didn't seem to have any effect on my sprinklers. So far I am pleased with it except for having to cover it. Only time will tell as to how it holds up over time.I normally don't do reviews but I am impressed with the 2hp model! Easy install as it's the same connections/footprint as the 1 1/2hp- it is about 4in longer than the old pump. Got this one on sale for the same price as the 1 1/2hp! The best part has been the noise (or lack thereof). We have our pump in a covered pit, I had to check my phone app to make sure it was running- it was with no noise!I've had one of these installed pulling water from a lake for about 10 years. The motor never failed me but I let it freeze once which broke the housing and impeller but parts are still reasonably cheap so I jut kept rebuilding it. Finally the bearings went out because it was submerged one summer when I was out of town and that was the final straw. The price hasn't changed much in many years and this new one has a Marathon motor vs the old which was GE.Finally got this plumbed into out watering system and it has an amazing amount of power -water pressure-. Worth the money as you can also buy replacement parts to fix any future issue. Highly suggest this if you have a tank with a 2” outlet as it is a requirement from the manufacturer that it has a 2” inlet line.I have used 'Wayne Pumps' for many years and have never had serious problems with them. Could always take to a local pump rebuilder for repairs or replacement parts. NOT WITH THIS PUMP!!!I purchased the pump in January 2018 for a sprinkler system. Previous pump was a Home Depot pump that lasted for a long time. The pump arrived and all seemed well...a simple installation to the well head and off we go....quiet and great pressure. Work faultlessly for about 4 months.....it locked up. A call to Wayne Water Systems and contact with Mr. Nate Detmer. Great guy....well spoken....courteous and great follow thru. Mr. Detmer requested information and it was supplied and a Warranty Return for Inspection Return Number was quickly received. Mr. Detmer did inform me that I was responsible for shipping charges for the pump to be returned for inspection. Should the pump failure be determined to be a manufacturing problem, it would be replaced. Okay...no problem.....yet. NO PROBLEM UNTIL I DETERMINED THAT THE SHIPPING COST WERE OVER $160.00 Goodness.....gracious.....$160.00 is approximately 68% of the cost of the pump.Since I was going to be out a 'few' buck for shipping, I decided to take the pump into a local repair shop that I have had a working relationship with for many years. My thoughts were if it were a simple issue, then I would simply pay for the cost out of pocket. The shop performed a basic 'look-see' and determined that the motor was 'history'...and nope they would not service the pump....something about off shore parts and incapability with replacement parts. No charge for the evaluation. It appears that the Wayne Pump of Today is not the Same Wayne Pump of Yesteryear. I know cost factors are important....but so is the quality of the product. It is simply not there any longer. It should be noted that when parts or items are sourced from off shore locations, that this informtion should be stated in the product descrption. This would allow the buyer to make a legitimate determination concerning the purchase.Okay...what to do....I have a pump that is under warranty (?) but I have to spend $160.00 to have it 'evaluated'. MMMM...what to do...what if Wayne Water Systems determines that the problem is not a 'manufacturing' problem....then I am out my pump....or spend another exorbitant amount of money for it to be returned.I decided to keep my $160.00 shipping cost and apply to another pump. I did purchase a replacement, an American made pump....national warranty...not shipping in for evaluation....can be serviced by local repair facilities...yep...I checked...no problem ...got parts right here if needed !!!!! Seems as if Wayne would 'out source' repair facilites as they do parts.....it might just make a difference. NO MORE WAYNE PUMPS for me. Also...do not think I shall purchase anything from Amazon that they do not warranty. May cost a bit more to purchase locally...but at least warranty issues are not as difficult. Just my $.02 worth.Since I have this non functioning almost new pump...I think I shall attempt to repair the unit....do not have anything to loose...if it works...I shall have a great 'emergency' pump...if it doesn't....I shall simply have a 'POS' pump....oppps...already have one of those.!!Recommendation....DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PUMP!!!! Yep, perhaps...I got a 'lemon'....and that could be....but what if you get a 'lemon' also.....how much is the shipping from your location to Wayne Pump in Harrison OH. Save the dollars and apply to the purchase of another brand....I have lost confidence in a product I once thought was #1.BUYER FOR WARNED....BUYER BEWARE!!!!!new post 7 July updateWell I made my first you tube video today and will post it this week. The subject is why you should not buy a product online until you research the warranty policy. Wayne uses marathon motors on this pump. I spent 1/2 hour trying to find information on this marathon motor and the company web site does not even list this product, I wanted to see if I could purchase any replacement parts as opposed to sending the whole pump assembly to Ohio for inspection / service or repair. I could not find any thing for this motor, but Grainger sells them for $203 and they are usually double the cost of any retailer which means this is cheaper than the worst Chinese import available. IF I want this pump to work I must send back to the wayne inspection facility at a fed ex cost of $67.New post: July 4 updateReceived a PDF with return instructions from Wayne today after several correspondences.sooooooo...drop this review down to one star because my $300 pump needs to be shipped to Ohio for inspection.....yes inspection. Now if they determine there pump broken with no negligence on my behalf they will fix or replace it. I have no box...and this thing is cast iron and is going to cost a fortune to ship. So I am currently using municipal city water to do what a 2 month old pump should be doing. I probably will not see a replacement for weeks.Found a semi local irragation company that sells sta-rite pumps and plan on purchasing a pump from them. I cannot believe that do not have a local service center in Orlando.I even offered them to take my credit card and sell me a replacement pump so I could to up and running with out a delay and they said they can not do anything untill it is inspected. YES in OHIO! So during this wait time my new sta-rite will be working while Wayne verifies that there marathon motor is junk.Yes this is a rant but be warned if it fails this is what you can expect.Bought this pump on May 10thpurchased this pump to replace a 8 year old 1 1/2 hp water ace pump. Installed it 3 weeks ago and the dimensions were very close to the water ace so install was a breeze. I have a 20 amp sub panel with a 240 GFCI 6 feet from the pump controlled by a 240 switch. The pump is used as a shallow water sprinkler pump and died at just over 10 hours of use. The circuit breaker did not trip, the pump just shut off. There is 240 coming from the breaker and 240 at the the pump, The pump was warm but not excessively hot, but I gave it 20 minutes to rest just in case the thermal cut off was overly sensitive. After a 2 hour wait the switch was engaged for a second time and the pump did nothing. 10 hours and this thing is confirmed to be dead. Maybe the marathon motor should re branded back to GE since it is junk. The pump is under warranty so I am not even going to touch it.This pump is housed and was extremely quite, it took effort to hear the hum when running. It had more power than the water ace and the that gave a little extra pressure which was a nice upgrade. This appears to be a well designed heavy duty cast iron pump and when it ran it performed very well.contacted WAYNE pumps to start warranty replacementI will be updating this review periodically. It does not trip the pressure switch factory set for 60 PSI when all water outlets are closed off. I have not measured the pressure but am guessing around 40 PSI. The pressure switch is installed at the pump.Used for transferring lake water to a well. Suction is approximately 10' above the suction intake and discharges through 1500 feet of 1.5 inch poly piping with approximately 25 ' in elevation gain. Initial prime took approx 40 seconds to start flowing water. Measured flow at discharge of the piping is 26.5 gpm. I have run the pump for over 5 hours in July and August and have no issues. The motor casing gets extremely hot, but the pump has not hit the thermal cutoff. I wired with 10AWG 3-wire to a 4 prong plug and run the pump off a 5000 watt Honda generator. Very pleased so far.I owned one of these pumps and was very pleased with it. I accidentally let it freeze, which broke to cast iron pump cover. Wayne do not supply any spare parts for this pump, so I had to buy a complete new one. I am keeping the old one as a source of parts.Very good product. Very satisfied so far. Easy to install and setup. Worked immediately.Zero issues.this pump works great.
