The plastic on the handle where you place your thumb comes off when iron is heated. Never had this happen. Would not buy this again.Not easy to control and too hotI love it!This size is exactly what I wanted and it is not sold in local stores.I use this curling iron for curling my wife's hair. The picture on Amazon's web site is incorrect. The 1/4" barrel does not have the metal wire stand. It has 2 small protruding legs molded on the handle of the iron. This iron doesn't last long because the very thin metal wire spring that is used to clamp the hair to the iron breaks after many uses during the year. This is my 3rd Hot & Hotter iron in 3 years. I' unable to find another brand with a 1'/4" barrel iron.Helps me curl my hair right after I get a haircut. I have short hair. As the hair grows out, I then switch to a 3/8 in. curling iron.it is small for short hairIt makes the right size of curl and easy to use.
