This movie was first released in 1957(2011), in B/W, Fullscreen and runs 73 minutes. The sound and picture quality are very good. There are no extras. The film starts in Ellsworth, South Dakota at the turn of 1900. With the civilisation coming to the west, an attack on stagecoach in an ambush leads to the death of the driver. Sheriff Sam Galt's (STERLING HAYDEN) son Benjie(DARRYL HICKMAN) is held in jail for slaying the express stagecoach driver. Walden(I. STANFORD JOLLEY), dying from a heart attack, says he saw Benjie kill the driver. However, Benje denies it, and the Sheriff says he has to prove some how, and has to find the truth. He had sent for big lawyer Roger Pollack(JOHN DEHNER) for his son. Sheriff gets a telegram saying that the silver coins stolen on the stagecoach were all mint of 1891. Sheriif meets his lawyer who reasures him that his son will be free by the night. The court starts accusing Benjie for steeling $16,400 in gold and silver coins. Marshall Ellison(WALTER SANDE) arrives, sent by the Governor, on request of Quincy(KENT TAYLOR), the newspaper proprietor. Then Sheriff is given a mint coin by the bank manager saying it came from the casino and apparently detective Sutherland(MORT MILLS) had used that coin. While the trial is going on, Sheriff is out looking for more evidence and the owner of the new silver dollar. Lawyer Pollack questions the witnesses and says Walden hated Benjie because Benjie loved his daughter Kathi(KATHY NOLAN). The local chinese laundryman's money was stolen and same new dollar was amongst the money stolen. When Sheriff questions the laundryman, he said it was Benjie who gave him that new dollar!. Sheriff wonders as to what he should do?This excellent story of SEELEG LESTER is well photographed in B/W by KENNETH PEACH and well directed by SYDNEY SALKOW. The story, court scenes and the ending is worth buying this DVD.STERLING HAYDEN(STERLING RELYEA WALTER) was born on 26.3.1916 in Upper Montclair, New Jersey. After his father died, aged 9, Sterling was adopted by James Hayden and re-named Sterling Walter Hayden. He attended Wassookeag School in Dexter, Maine. He dropped out of school at 16, and was a fisherman, ran a charter Yacht and served as a fireman. He sailed around the world many times. At 6' 5"(1.96 m), he signed a contract with Paramount Pictures. Later he joined the marines as a private under the name of 'JOHN HAMILTON'. On 24.12.1945, he left active duty. He was married 3 times (1) Madeleine Carroll(1942-1946)-1 son (2) Betty Ann de Noon(1947-1958)- 3 children (3) Catherine Devine McConnell(1960-1986)- 2 sons.
